Diamond Hill Station Bio
Music, the art of combining sounds of varying pitch to produce various ideas and emotions. Music, any pleasing or harmonious sounds. Music, a method in which to entertain an individual or a group of individuals and invoke a feeling of anticipation and excitement. Music by definition, is Diamond Hill Station.
In the past five years, Diamond Hill Station has been setting the trend for hard driven', up tempo, Bluegrass music in the Midwest. Since their beginning as a "garage" band, they have shared the stage with Bluegrass greats, such as, Rhonda Vincent, Kenny & Amanda Smith, the Lewis Family, the Grascals, Lost & Found, and have performed at the worlds longest running Bluegrass festival, Bill Monroe's Bean Blossom. In addition to performing at festivals throughout the Midwest, Diamond Hill Station has released two albums, a single nationally, and received international airplay from their first album, with the single 'California Cotton Fields. Diamond Hill Station has performed for live television and radio, and performs fan appreciation concerts, twice yearly (free admission) to show appreciation to all their loyal friends and fans. Diamond Hill Station's high energy performances, great musicianship, and perfect vocal harmonies, make a Diamond Hill Station performance one that will not be forgotten.
Hard driven' Bluegrass, is Diamond Hill Station!
Michael White
Terre Haute,IN...one of the 'founding members' of Diamond Hill Station, Michael's unique style of flatpicking and crosspicking his Martin D-28 guitar, and his push on and off style of rhythm, helps lend itself to the tight over all sound of Diamond Hill Station. As the front man, you never know what kind of antic he may present to the band, or audience. He will do what ever it takes to gain the audience's support. Michael is one of the lead and tenor vocalist in the band.
Kevin Davis
Blackhawk, IN...also one of the 'founding members' of Diamond Hill Station. Kevin's approach to playing the five string banjo, is nothing short of unbelievable! As a master student of the J.D. Crowe style of playing, he is the drive behind Diamond Hill Station. With his vast assortment of Banjo's to choose from, he may be playing his pre-war 1935 Kel Kroyden Gibson, or his newer Huber Lexington, at any given performance. Kevin also contributes to the mix of vocal harmonies.
Mark Graham
Clay City, IN...singing most of the lead vocals and high tenor, Mark has a vocal range of at least three octaves. He keeps the rhythm in check with his powerful chop on a very rare, The Kentucky Mandolin. The Kentucky is one of the few Kentucky's, hand built in the United States. He also helps with the front man duties, while on stage.
Lloyd Shonk
Clay City, IN... creates a solid foundation on the Acoustic Bass. His rock solid Bass beat, and precision timing, keep Diamond Hill Station right where they need to be on a lighting fast number. His baritone voice is second to none, which helps complete the total vocal harmony package. Gospel tunes are where Lloyd can really showcase his beautiful voice.
